Manatee and Goff's Caye Tour

This full-day tour is a boating tour to Swallow Caye and Goff’s Caye. Along the way you’ll see manatees, coral reefs, and a remote island where you’ll stop for a picnic lunch.

Manatees are highly endangered, and the waters off of Swallow Caye are one of the few places you can see them in the wild. The potato-like marine mammals spend their days nibbling on the sea grass that grows in the warm Caribbean shallows. These friendly animals have been known to swim into boat motors, so it’s important to approach them in non-motorized boats. Using a pole to push the boat along allows you to quietly and gently approach manatees. Belizean manatees are typically 400 to 800 pounds 10 feet (3 m) long. Swimming with the manatees is prohibited, but you can take pictures and admire them from your boat.

After Swallow Caye, your tour continues to Goff’s Caye, a tiny island where there’s nothing but coral reef and an isolated beach. You’ll disembark at the beach and spread your beach towel under the palm trees—sit back and relax while your guides prepare lunch. After the picnic, you can spend time on the beach however you want, including snorkeling in the clear water.

On the way back, you’ll have the chance to see the sharks and dolphins that live around Caye Caulker. You can also stop at Caye Caulker for an island shopping excursion before your return to the dock at Ramon’s Village.
