Your tour starts with a short talk on the history of the basin, and your guide will show you the cages the founder used to capture and tag jaguars. Although you’re unlikely to see them during the day, this preserve is an essential habitat for endangered jaguars. On your first hike, you’ll get to see some of the area’s rare wildlife that comes out during the day, as well as interesting medicinal plants. After this first hike, you will return to the main building for a home-cooked lunch.
Next, it’s time to head to the banks of the Stann Creek River to grab your inner tube. The waters here are slow-moving, making for a relaxing float through the jungle. Afterward, you’ll take a short hike to a scenic nearby waterfall, to cap off your memorable afternoon in the rainforest.
