As Costa Rica's largest city, San José hosts an ample number of traveler services, including banks, shops, pharmacies, and grocery stores. Trips to all parts of the country depart from here, making it an easy in-between travel stop. If, however, you plan to spend time within or around San José, there are a number of activities to enjoy. The city itself hosts good restaurants, bars and discos. Outside the city are volcanoes (Poás and Irazú), canopy tours, and coffee plantations. White water rafting trips and horseback riding can be arranged as well.
The Marriott Residence Inn is located along the upscale Avenue Escazu, which is near both parks and shopping. Downtown San José is just fifteen minutes away.
