Montezuma is one of Costa Rica’s most eclectic towns. It’s peopled with characters from every walk of life – outdoor enthusiasts, ex-Pats, Rastafarians and more – that have helped mold it into something beautiful. Its businesses are reputable and varied, and include restaurants, bars and artisan shops. Just outside the streets of this small town visitors will find both an expansive beach and a solid stretch of forest. The forest hosts waterfalls, and a number of wildlife refuges can be visited via taxi rides.
Of the three Montezuma Beach Houses, the Beach Villa is the largest. It’s a two-story affair with 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, and dining room. Upstairs are two large bedrooms with queen size beds and vaulted ceilings. Each has its own bathroom and access to a large wooden balcony that overlooks the beach, pool and ocean. The first floor features a living area with a cable TV, DVD player, and stereo. Nearby is a modern kitchen that has a stainless steel refrigerator, stove and oven. Also on this floor are another bedroom and a den (with a computer). Outdoors, guests will enjoy lounging alongside the pool, making drinks at the bar, or cooking dinner on the grill. A 14-foot wide veranda surrounds the entire house and offers up a spectacular place to relax in the shade.
Just steps from the shore, the Beach House provides guests with easy access to the beach. The first floor includes a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom/bathroom, and a living room with wicker furniture. The living room has a sofa with a trundle bed that can sleep two people, while the bedroom – which is surrounded by windows and has access to a private bathroom – has a double bed with high quality linens. The second floor hosts a large loft bedroom with a luxurious queen size bed. Its ceiling and floors are constructed from fine woods and it looks out onto the coast. The house’s front veranda has an eating area, gas BBQ, and hammocks. The second bathroom is also equipped with a washing machine.
The final option is the Tree House. This house is perfect for bird or animal lovers, as its rooms and living area is perched upon the second story of the house. There are two bedrooms, each of which has a double bed and a private bathroom. The bedrooms are surrounded by ample windows and open onto a large veranda that hosts an outdoor kitchen and dining area. It’s pleasant to dine while enjoying the sights and sounds of the nearby forest. The swimming pool is a short walk away.
