Make your way to one of Costa Rica’s most popular destinations for outdoor adventure — and relaxation. ‘Arenal’ is the catchall name for all of the recreational opportunities found in the Arenal Volcano region of La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Here, you can hike around Arenal Volcano and enjoy scenic views; kayak across Lake Arenal; go on scenic bike rides, and so much more. Know what else you can do? Enjoy the fruits of Arenal Volcano’s labor with a nice long soak in a geothermal hot spring…
Part Cultural Adventure
This awesome adventure takes you on a different kind of adventure around Arenal. You’ll spend plenty of time in the fresh air, and will be able to take in the sights at your leisure, because these activities move at a slower pace than some of the region’s more rugged excursions.
Your first stop is full of culture! The town of Sarchi is also known as ‘The Birthplace of Costa Rica’s Artisans’. Here, you will have the chance to not only admire and purchase local arts, crafts, and other souvenirs, but speak with the artisans behind them. By the way, prepare to admire another kind of artistry when you see the Guinness Book’s largest ox cart in the world. It must have been made for Babe The Blue Ox, because it clocks in at 2 stories high, 45 feet (14 meters) long, and weighs 4,400 lbs (2 tons)!
Next stop, taking the scenic route through the region’s agricultural landscape. Tropical fruit plantations boast mangoes, plantains, and pineapples; while ornamentals abound, and even cattle ranches make space for greenery other than grass. It’s a great opportunity to slow down and admire the world, rather than let it pass you by. If the scenery makes you hungry, don’t worry! Before you know it, it’s time to stop for a fabulous lunch at a charming little restaurant; your meal is served with a side of magnificent view — admire Arenal Volcano, while you dine.
Part Pampering Escape
Funny how new experiences and being out and about can be somewhat tiring. Luckily, this tour lets you relax and unwind in one of the best possible ways. Tabacon Hot Springs is the nation’s “largest network of naturally flowing thermal mineral springs”, it’s also carbon neutral! The five main hot springs are heated by — you guessed it — Arenal Volcano. A cascading thermal waterfall is a welcome treat, as is the cold river, which adds a nice contrast to the thermal pools ranging in temperature from 72 °F (22 °C) to 105 °F (41 °C).
Just when you thought the day couldn’t get any better, there’s one more thing you have to look forward to — a sumptuous supper. Dinner will be served with another extraordinary view of Arenal Volcano, just to make sure you get your share of its awe-inspiring beauty. So, what are you waiting for? Book this relaxing adventure today, and make your next getaway even more stress-free when you let your Anywhere Local Expert manage all of your tours, accommodations, and transportation. Get ready to 'soak in' the beauty of Costa Rica.

Wow, can't say enough about this tour! The hot springs are so so so pretty, and we loved the stops along the way too. The food was incredible also. Wish we could have stayed at the Tabacon Hot Springs forever!
This was a long trip, but enjoyable. Again, we had George as our tour guide which made it awesome to chat with him again and hear his humor again. Of course, his knowledge of the volcano, hot springs, and cities were excellent. The driver was also very friendly and careful in the day and night time. The hot springs was a little taste of heaven for leisure purposes. The food was great.
