The Las Nubes coffee plantation was declared a private protected area in 2004, helping to conserve the cloud forests and pine-oak forest on the side of the Santo Tomás Volcano. These forests provide habitat for a number of animals and birds. While on a walking tour here, you'll have the chance to see mammals like armadillos, deers, and monkeys. Bird sightings include the resplendent quetzal, azure-rumped tanager, and highland guan. Your guides will help you spot and identify any birds that you come across.

While here you'll also tour the coffee plantation and learn about the growing and harvesting process. The coffee plantation is surrounded by trees that provide further habitat for birds and other animals.

The house of the farm was built around 1830 by the pioneer William Nelson. Its structure has been restored, and the inside of the house has antiques and historical photographs on display. You'll spend the night at the house and appreciate the surrounding nature when you wake up the next morning.
