This tour starts on a Tuesday in Guatemala City. Once you arrive, you'll be transferred to your hotel.
On Wednesday morning you'll visit the archeological site of La Democracia, which is well known for its ancient stone heads that were found in the nearby area. Afterwards you'll visit the Museo Cultura Cotzumalguapa at Finca Las Ilusiones, which hosts an assortment of sculptures found on the farmland. I the afternoon you'll continue on to Chichicastenango and spend the night here.
Thursday's tour includes a visit to both the colorful open-air market and the Santo Tomás Church. That afternoon you'll transfer to Quetzaltenango for accommodations.
Friday you'll tour the colorful animal market outside San Francisco El Alto; you can see chickens, pigs, and hens being bought and sold by locals. You'll then visit the San Andrés Xecul Church and head to Panajachel in the afternoon. Panajachel is a fun town set along the shore of Lake Atitlán. You'll spend the night here.
After breakfast on Saturday, you'll enjoy a boat ride to the picturesque village of Santiago Atitlán. The tour continues on to Antigua that afternoon.
Sunday morning you'll explore the former colonial capital of Antigua. You'll visit churches, convents, and monasteries. Afterwards you'll return to Guatemala City.
The tour ends Monday with a transfer to the La Aurora International Airport or a hotel of your choice.

Santiago Atitlán is one of the more traditional towns along Lake Atitlán, and its market is a good place to witness the intersection of local culture and commerce. The best days to visit the market are Friday and Saturday.
