This Sasak village on the southern slopes of Mount Rinjani is often called the Ubud of Lombok — more accurately, it resembles the Ubud of 25 years ago, and offers a charming look into the real Lombok. Tetebatu sits in a virtual breadbasket of agriculture, surrounded by rice fields, beautiful farmland, and gardens of spice. The towering volcano is part of the scenic panorama of the area. Trekking, waterfalls, and a monkey forest are among the main attractions. Tetebatu is 1.5 hours east of Mataram in East Lombok Regency, and 1.2 miles (2 km) south of the entrance to Gunung Rinjani National Park.
