The Point is set at the tip of Contadora Island in the Pearl Archipelago. The hotel has a nice offering of facilities – including a swimming pool, restaurant and spa – and its location is one of the best on the island.
The Pearl Archipelago is set off Panama’s central Pacific coast—it’s about a half hour from Panama City by plane. Contadora Island is lovely. Its deserted white sand beaches border crystal clear water. The island is small (most people get around by golf cart) but still offers a decent selection of restaurants and shops. Day trips can be made to other islands in the archipelago, and deep-sea fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving can be done as well.
The name of this hotel is spot on—it’s positioned on an oval-shaped spit of land that juts out into the ocean. This means that nearly three-quarters of the hotel’s property abuts the water. The Point wisely takes advantage of this by setting up each of their rooms along the perimeter of the property. All rooms look out over the ocean.
The rooms are furnished with comfortable beds, air conditioning, cable TV, and a mini-bar. All have a private bathroom with a hot water shower and toiletries. A private balcony with a breakfast table overlooks the ocean.
There is a large swimming pool surrounded by deck chairs and a small children’s pool. Guests can stroll to the beach and lounge beneath shade umbrellas or visit the hotel’s spa.
The hotel’s restaurant has contemporary cuisine that uses organic ingredients and plenty of fresh seafood. During the day, room service is offered al fresco on your balcony or at the beach.
