Restaurant in Hotel
Sapibenega (The Kuna Lodge) is an exquisite hotel set on a private island near Playon Chico. This hotel is one of the nicest accommodations in the entire Guna Yala archipelago.
Playon Chico is a large island in the Guna Yala archipelago. This island has around 3,000 inhabitants and is an interesting mix of the old and the new – you will still find women sewing molas, but you’ll also see larger and less traditional homes. Sapibenega Island, as well as a scattering of other islands, is a short boat ride away. Like other places in Guna Yala, the main activities here are swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, and relaxing. You can also take trips to the mainland to hike or visit a waterfall.
Sapibenega (The Kuna Lodge) is as close to luxury accommodations as you’ll find in Guna Yala. Set on a small private island, this hotel provides its guests with excellent service, comfortable facilities, and an incredible atmosphere. It’s an easy place to breathe deep and unwind.
The cabins at Sapibenega are made in the traditional Guna style—they have cane walls, wooden floors, and thatched-roofs. The cabins have either one queen-size bed or two double beds. There is mosquito netting over the beds and bedside tables and lamps. The cabin’s private bathroom has tile-floors, a flush toilet, and a hot water shower—make no mistake, these are incredible amenities for the location. And thanks to solar power and a generator, there is electricity available 24 hours a day.
There are ceiling fans to keep the cabins cool and private balconies equipped with hammocks. Reading a book (or more likely, taking a nap) in one of these hammocks is extremely pleasant.
Sapibenega has a bar, restaurant, and lounge set in an open-air, thatched-roof building. The restaurant is located over the water and has incredible views of the Caribbean Sea. A variety of local food and tropical drinks are available, and the seafood is as fresh as it gets. Guests can dine by candlelight or under the stars.
There is also a small bar set on a rancho over the water where guests can order both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Important Note: Guna Village taxes are not included in rates, it is around $10 per person to be paid in cash. Also it's necessary to present your passport.
Rates include all taxes.
