Playon Chico is a large island in the Guna Yala archipelago. Set close to the coast, Playon Chico is home to about 3,000 Guna inhabitants. The village is fairly modern and has a large health center, several churches, and homes made of concrete. On smaller islands in the archipelago, you won't find any of this. That said, there are still pockets of tradition on Playon Chico. Some huts have cane-walls and local women sew molas (handmade blouses). A few islands, including Isla Iguana and Sapibenega Island, are a short distance away. These islands have nice beaches and swimming spots.
