More about Petrohue Waterfalls, Chile
A popular tourist destination, don’t anticipate having the falls to yourself. The falls are popular with good reason; there is a well constructed tourist information center there, a snack stall, and some stands selling local handicrafts.
If you follow the metal catwalks over the enormous boulders, you will have a chance to see the churning waters rush right beneath your feet in a slot canyon only a couple of meters wide. On the opposite side of the river you will see the dramatic falls themselves, making their presence known with the crashing sound of thousands of gallons of freezing snowmelt being churned into whitewater. The water is usually a crystal clear green, but depending on the season may be loaded with silt and sand from the volcano’s lahars, creating a milky appearance.
