IncludedSail through the breathtaking fjords of Patagonia on this unforgettable full-day expedition to the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, pristine forests, and icy waters, this journey offers a front-row seat to one of Chile’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders.
Your adventure begins in Puerto Natales, as the boat sets sail along the Señoret Channel toward Mount Balmaceda. Enjoy breakfast on board while taking in the serene Patagonian landscape.
The first stop is the Frigorífico Bories National Historical Monument, built in 1913 by the Tierra del Fuego Exploitation Society. This former sheep processing plant, with its striking post-Victorian industrial architecture, played a central role in the region’s development for over sixty years.
As we continue through the canal, we’ll pass Guanaco Island, where the playful Magellanic dolphins (Toninas) often appear. Next, we reach Estancia Margot, home to the Wall of Cormorants, where these elegant birds spread their wings to dry in the wind. Further along, at Punta de Lobos, you may spot sea lions resting along the shore. The navigation also takes us past scenic waterfalls and towering cliffs where majestic Andean condors soar overhead.
At each highlight, the boat pauses for passengers to admire and photograph the stunning scenery.
Upon arrival at Mount Balmaceda (2,035 m), you’ll have the opportunity to view the imposing Balmaceda Glacier before disembarking at Puerto Toro. From here, enjoy a guided one-hour hike along the shores of the Témpanos Lagoon, surrounded by native forests of coihues, ñirres, and ciruelillos, leading to the magnificent Serrano Glacier.
Marvel at the dazzling contrast between deep blue ice, lush greenery, and the open Patagonian sky, a true encounter with Chile’s untouched wilderness.
The tour concludes with the return navigation to Puerto Natales, where this extraordinary day in the southern fjords comes to an end.
