In the upscale El Poblado district, Avenida La Calle hosts boutique cafés and restaurants where bandeja paisa, a platter of beans, pork, plantain and avocado, is served on large ceramic plates. Every August, the Feria de las Flores fills the streets with flower‑laden floats, marching bands and the scent of roses that bloom on the surrounding slopes.
The integration of cable‑car routes into daily life, allowing commuters to travel more than 800 metres in elevation within minutes, remains the most visible testament to Medellín’s ongoing urban renewal.
