Will I See Poverty in Cuba?

Unfortunately you will see some poverty as you travel in Cuba. Except for some select government employees and private entrepreneurs, Cubans live off the state wage of 17 USD. Some Cubans turn to crimes like prostitution, hustling tourists, and selling goods on the black market to make ends meet. Increasingly Cubans have more legal ways to make money, and the tourist industry is helping many Cubans elevate their standard of living.
