The single‑story terminal occupies roughly 10,000 square metres of low‑rise concrete and glass, allowing natural light to flood the check‑in hall. A large mural of the nine bays, painted by local artisans, greets arriving passengers, while a garden of native orchids and a stone water feature provide a quiet view of the sea beyond the glass façade. The runway, 2,500 metres long, is aligned to the prevailing wind patterns, and a series of solar panels on the roof supply about a third of the airport’s electricity. Rainwater collected from the roof feeds the terminal’s restrooms and the garden irrigation system, reflecting the airport’s commitment to sustainable design.

Customs and immigration are processed on a single level, and a small duty‑free shop offers regional coffee and hand‑woven textiles. The terminal’s layout guides travelers directly to a panoramic terrace where aircraft taxi past the turquoise waters of Bahía de Santa Cruz, a view that defines the airport’s unique relationship with its coastal environment.
