Havana was wonderful. Our 5-day quick getaway includes a thorough introduction to Cuba’s architecture and culture. We also loved the trip to Varadero to experience the beautiful coastline!
A quick getaway to Havana…
This trip was a quick 5-day getaway to experience what Cuba had to offer. We chose Havana as the city we wanted to experience first. Alfonso recommended great activities, including an architecture tour that allowed us to appreciate the beautiful cityscape of Havana even more! Our guide Eduardo was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot, were able to ask questions, and just really enjoyed the whole experience.
From city to beaches…
The trip to Varadero was amazing. Who knew there are such pristine and beautiful beaches hidden in Cuba? In the city, be mindful that a black market economy means there are a lot of people ready to 'hustle' you. It's not predatory or unsafe, but I hadn't thought about this before going. We booked a lesson in salsa dancing to experience the local nightlife, it was so much fun.

Spanish conquistadors started building Havana in 1519. The city became an important port in the second half of the 16th century. Over the years the old section of Havana has become an important showcase of Moorish, baroque, neoclassical, and art nouveau architecture. Each plaza and neighborhood of Old Havana has a distinct look and personality.

Havana is a beautiful and captivating city. It’s home to the country’s most thriving cultural, culinary, and artistic scenes, and is a fascinating intersection between Spanish colonialism and Cuban Communism. The people here are friendly and welcoming, and it’s easy to spend an entire week strolling its streets, visiting museums, and listening to live music.
Matanzas
Matanzas has a distinguished history as a cultural center in Cuba. Its heyday lasted from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
