What is Myanmar’s Currency?
Myanmar’s currency is called the kyat. Myanmar has used the U.S. dollar in recent years, but the government is placing restrictions on its use in an attempt to stabilize the kyat. Still, some vendors will accept pristine US dollars. It’s best not to rely on U.S. currency, as the rules are subject to change.

1 kyat = ~0.00073 USD
1 kyat can be subdivided into 100 pya. Kyat notes are abbreviated with a K, as in K1, K5, K10, K20, K50, K100, K200, K1,000, K5,000, K10,000. There is also a 50 pya note.
