How are Gay and Lesbian Travelers Received in Myanmar?
Homesexual activity is illegal in Burma, and can carry a penalty of up to 10 years in jail. This law, however, is not known to be regularly enforced. Culturally most Burmese people don’t demonstrate a lot of prejudice toward gay travelers, although homosexuality is considered to go against traditional Buddhist values. It is exceedingly rare to find an openly gay-friendly establishment in Myanmar, especially anywhere outside of Yangon.

It's more than just having a good time or visiting beautiful places (although that's absolutely a part of it!), it's about being part of a unique experience that stays with you.
