At hotels and reputable restaurants, produce is typically washed in purified water and safe for consumption. Mexico's tropical climate produces exceptional fruits including mangos, papayas, pineapples, and exotic varieties you may not find at home.

When purchasing from markets or street vendors, choose fruits you can peel yourself, such as bananas, oranges, and mangos. Avoid pre-cut fruit from vendors unless you're confident about the preparation standards. Thoroughly wash any produce you buy before eating.
