Scorpions exist throughout Mexico and occasionally enter buildings, particularly in drier regions. Check shoes before putting them on and shake out clothing that has been on the floor. Scorpion stings are painful but rarely dangerous to healthy adults.

In jungle and rural areas, ant species can deliver painful bites. Watch where you stand or sit, especially on the ground. Most insects encountered in hotels and resorts are harmless, and properties maintain regular pest control. Air-conditioned rooms significantly reduce insect encounters.
