Cabañas Isla Verde

Set within the western highlands of Panama, the small town of Boquete is surrounded by huge swaths of forests, white-water rivers, and country’s only volcano. Understandably, many travelers come here to explore the outdoors or soak up the cool climate. Hikes in the Barú Volcano National Park offer the chance to summit Panama’s highest peak or search for the elusive resplendent quetzal. Boquete also has several coffee plantations and gardens that can be toured.

Isla Verde offers two types of accommodation: roundhouses and suites. The roundhouses are just what the name suggests – round, one-room houses. They have a spacious, well-lit interior and a dome-styled ceiling. A set of stairs leads to an open loft with one bed. The whole place feels modern, comfortable and inclusive. They can sleep 4-6 people.

The suites are smaller but no less attractive. There are two suites to each building, one on the upper level and one on the lower level. Each suite has its own entrance. Like the roundhouses, the suites have tile floors and ample windows. There are small tables for eating and sofas for relaxing, as well as an outdoor patio that’s perfect for spending time outdoors.

All accommodations at Isla Verde come equipped with a private bathroom that has a hot water shower, hair dryer, toiletries, and towels. There is a ceiling fan to keep the indoors cool (although you may not need it), as well as a cable TV and wireless Internet. The roundhouses and suites also have their own kitchen or kitchenette, which makes it easy to cook or store food. There are closets for hanging clothes, as well as a small safe where you can store a wallet or phone.

Isla Verde has its own onsite spa. Run by a massage therapist with over twenty years of experience, this spa offers all kinds of treatments—there is hot stone massage, deep tissue massage, foot massage, lomi lomi massage, reflexology, and facials. The spa is set within the hotel’s gardens and has a pleasant outdoor patio where guests can relax with a cup of tea after treatment.

Isla Verde offers one of the best breakfasts in Boquete. The fruits and vegetables are fresh and come from local farms. The bread and pastries are baked at the hotel, and are often accompanied by a large carafe of locally grown coffee. The menu includes eggs, omelets, pancakes, cereal, and yogurt, as well as several types of juice.
