Colón Island is the largest and most developed island in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. This is where Bocas town, the funky and bohemian hangout, is located. The island has several good beaches and surf spots, and it’s easy to make day trips to other areas for snorkeling, swimming, and scuba.

The Playa Tortuga Hotel & Beach Resort is set outside Bocas town—this gives it a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. The beach here is attractive and is a nice place to walk, swim, or sunbathe.

If you get sick of the sand, head to the swimming pool. This is one of the best parts of the entire hotel—there is an adult and children’s swimming pool, as well as an area where sun chairs are slightly submerged in water. Sipping a cocktail or reading a book here is utterly pleasant.

If you find yourself in need of additional activities, there is a sand volleyball court and a fitness room. Massages are also offered on-site.
The hotel has 117 rooms and suites. All accommodations have a contemporary décor and modern amenities, including cable TV, wireless Internet, and a mini-bar. Additionally, all rooms and suites come equipped with an ocean-view balcony, hot water bathroom, air conditioning, and in-room safe. The suites are larger and have a king-size bed and living room.
There are two restaurants where guests can dine. The Naguas Restaurant offers a wide selection both international and national cuisine. The Baula Restaurant is set on the end of a private pier and serves à la carte appetizers, grilled meats, seafood, sandwiches and desserts. The Baula Restaurant has panoramic views of the Caribbean and is a great place for happy hour.

The hotel has two meeting rooms and one banquet room, each of which can accommodate up to 75 guests. The rooms feature audiovisual equipment and wireless Internet. They are perfect for business meetings, weddings, or other special events.
