If you’re coming to Panama, chances are that you’ll be in Panama City for at least a day or two. Whether you’re a gastronome, an amateur historian, or a nature lover, there is something for everyone here. There are fantastic international restaurants and lovely corner cafés, especially within Casco Viejo. Casco Viejo – the second-oldest part of Panama City and a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is a pleasant place to stroll and take photographs. Outdoor excursions can be made to Barro Colorado, an island in the Panama Canal that’s run by the Smithsonian Institute, or the Soberanía National Park, which has some of the best birding in the country.
Set just 12 miles (19 km) from the Tocumen International Airport, the Panama Marriott Hotel is centrally located within Panama City’s financial and shopping districts. There are all kinds of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options in this area, and it’s easy to get most everywhere else by taking a quick cab.
