Mrauk U Hotel

Mrauk U was the capital of the Arakan Kingdom, and it’s now one of Myanmar’s more remote architectural sites. The Arakan kingdom was at its height from the 15th to the 18th century, when much of Mrauk U was built. Take tours here to see enormous stupas made from a dusty red brick and stone. Shittaung Temple is one of the most famous — go here to see enormous reliefs depicting the history of the Arakan Kingdom. Go next door to see Andaw Thein Temple, which contains a reliquary that is said to contain the Buddha’s teeth.

You can watch satellite TV and take in the view from the terrace. The room has a desk and a minibar. Each room has a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Rooms are stocked with complimentary bottled water.

Mrauk U Hotel also offers laundry services. There is a safety deposit box at the front desk. There is room service available during limited hours, and the hotel also has its own restaurant.
