Tropical Suites

Tropical Suites is set in the heart of Colón Island in Bocas del Toro. The hotel is waterfront – in fact, it literally reaches out over the water in some places – and has rooms that are attractive and well furnished.

The Bocas del Toro archipelago is scattered along the western Caribbean coast of Panama. Colón Island (Isla Colón) is the largest and most developed of the islands and home to Bocas town. Bocas town is a funky mixture of locals and international travelers, and it’s much more bohemian than other parts of Panama. There are several good surf spots and places to go snorkeling or scuba diving.

Tropical Suites is located near the ferry landing in Bocas town. It’s easy to get most everywhere from here – there are restaurants, bars and shops down the street, and you can catch boats to other islands from the dock of the hotel.

The suites are spacious and accommodating. Each has a king-size bed set with fine sheets and Serta pillows. The suites that face the water have large covered balconies overlooking the Caribbean—needless to say, this is a great place to spend the morning or have a drink at sunset. All have private bathrooms with hot water showers, Jacuzzi bathtubs, and luxury toiletries. Handcrafted, solid-wood furnishings make up the tables and chairs, and local artwork decorates the walls. Every suite has a living area, as well as a fully equipped kitchen (with a mini fridge and coffee maker). Air conditioning, cable TV, and wireless Internet come standard.

Tropical Suites provides all of their guests with a breakfast voucher for Lili’s Waterside Café, which is next door. The food is healthy and fresh and served in a dining area over the water.
