El Valle is a pleasant little mountain town in central Panama. It’s only about an hour from the Pacific coast, but it’s a world apart. Think cool breezes and big trees. El Valle is a great place to go hiking, bird watching, or horseback riding. There are waterfalls nearby, and a small zoo and happening local market in town. There is also a canopy tour, which offers travelers some high-flying, adrenaline-pumping fun.

Hotel Valle Verde is located on the outskirts of El Valle. The hotel is set off the main road and has nice, lush grounds—green grass stretches across much of it and is broken up by large trees. In the distance you can see the forested hills that surround El Valle, including the legendary La India Dormida. There are a few hammocks scattered around the property where guests can kick back and relax.

The rooms here are basic and clean. They have private bathrooms and hot water showers. There are standing fans, but most guests prefer to leave the windows open and let the breeze cool the room. Some rooms have a cable TV, and most have a sitting area on the front patio.
