Bastimentos Island is a nature lovers’ paradise. A quick boat ride away from Colón Island, Bastimentos has forests, beaches, and mangroves. The beaches along the northern side of the island are idyllic and perfect for relaxing. You might spot the island’s namesake creatures on Red Frog Beach, or if your timing is right, see turtles nesting on Playa Larga. This area also has one of Bocas’ biggest surf breaks, Silverbacks, which is only accessible by boat and most definitely not for beginners. Awesome snorkeling can be done in places like Cayo Crawl, which lies just off the coast of Bastimentos.

The Red Frog Beach Resort is made up of beautifully equipped, luxury villas set in the heart of the rainforest. The setting simply could not be better—you can look out from your private balcony and get sweeping views of the forest, coastline, and ocean. It’s stunning. This location also allows easy access to beaches, forests, coral reefs, and islands.

Accommodations at Red Frog consist of individual villas. There are tons to choose from, with 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom, and 4-bedroom options available. Each villa is individually decorated and exquisite. The floor plans are spacious and emphasize common areas, including indoor and outdoor living rooms, as well as private balconies that look out over the coast and ocean. Big windows let in lots of light and the wooden furniture gives them a natural feel.

Nearly every villa is equipped with a full kitchen. The kitchens have granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, including a full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. Most villas also have their own private swimming pool; returning from a day in the forest to your own pool is unbeatable. The smaller villas sleep 1-4 people, while the larger ones can sleep 4-10.

Guests that don’t want to cook can enjoy meals at the Kayukos Restaurant, which serves food from breakfast till dinner. The menu is varied and includes options like Greek salad, chicken curry, and local seafood. The resort’s Punta Lava Bar is set right above the beach. It has a daily happy hour and a variety of cold beverages.

Accommodations
One Bedroom Suites – These suites have one bedroom. The rooms have a king-size bed, queen-size bed, or two twin beds. They have access to a shared kitchen, swimming pool, patio, and living area. All suites have a private hot water bathroom (except one that has access to a shared bathroom). All can sleep 1-2 people.

Jungle Lodge – This lodge has two bedrooms and one loft. Both bedrooms have a queen-size bed and an outdoor shower. The loft has a twin bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen and two private decks with ocean views. This lodge sleep 4-6 people. Two Bedroom Villas – These villas each have two bedrooms. The configuration of beds differs in each villa, but most sleep between 2-8 people. Every villa has a fully equipped kitchen, private hot water bathrooms, living area, private balconies, and a private swimming pool.

Three Bedroom Villas – These villas each have three bedrooms. The configuration of beds differs in each villa, but most sleep 5-8 people. Every villa has a fully equipped kitchen, private hot water bathrooms, living area, private balconies, and a private swimming pool.

Four Bedroom Villas – These villas each have four bedrooms. The configuration of beds differs in each villa, but they sleep 6-10 people. Each villa has a fully equipped kitchen, private hot water bathrooms, living area, private balconies, and a private swimming pool.
