Buses in Panama & Transportation

Select Dates and Parties

The Panamanian bus system is fantastic—buses are cheap, reliable, and quick. Buses typically run from sunup till sundown and have frequent departures; there are also night buses for longer trips. Most buses stop at several towns while en route to their final destination (meaning that there are very few expresses). Some stops will include roadside cafeterias/restaurants where travelers can refuel with food and drinks.

Panama’s largest bus terminal is in Panama City. Set within the Albrook neighborhood, the Gran Terminal de Transportes has buses that depart for nearly every place in the country. Panama’s other bus hubs are in David and Santiago. Bus reservations are not always necessary, but are recommended for popular routes.
