Island Plantation is a full-service hotel on Playa Bluff. This beach stretches 2.5 miles (4 km) and has a reputation as one of Bocas del Toro’s nicest shorelines.

If you’d like a change of scenery, check out the beaches on the west side of the island, like Playa Estrella. This beach is best known for its starfish, although the numbers of starfish have dwindled in recent years. You need to do a little walking to get there, but it’s quite idyllic and worth the effort. The waters surrounding Bocas del Toro are popular for sailing and snorkeling outings. Water taxis make it easy to visit other parts of the archipelago. This hotel only has 8 rooms, so you can experience this Caribbean paradise without much competition for beach blanket real estate. Island Plantation has its own piece of the beach. Make time for tranquility at the meditation platform situated on the lush, tropical grounds.
You can choose to have your meals here or take an approximately 20-minute taxi ride to Bocas downtown area, which has a nice selection of restaurants, cafes, and bars. At the hotel, you can visit the pool to get a snack and a cocktail. Meals at Island Plantation are prepared using organic ingredients from the hotel’s farm. The dining room is an upscale experience, with a nice wine list and brunch on Sundays.
Rooms here have breezy interiors and comfortable furniture. You’ll have a spacious, private bathroom with upscale amenities. Accommodations also come with delightful views of the surrounding scenery. Island Plantation also offers guests Wi-Fi access.
My favorite lodging on the trip, although all were outstanding except Victoria in Panama City which was adequate.
