Expedition Lake Gatún

This tour of Lake Gatún allows travelers to experience the natural wonders of the lake and also get a partial look at the Panama Canal.

This tour begins on the edge of Gamboa. After tour participants board the boat, you’ll head up the Chagres River before entering Lake Gatún in the Panama Canal. At 165 square miles (425 square km), Lake Gatún is one of the largest artificial lakes in the world. As your boat works its way through the lake, you’ll visit several islands where you may be able to see white-faced capuchin and howler monkeys, as well as numerous bird species.
