This hands-on tour introduces you to one of Bali’s oldest forms of craftsmanship: woodworking. You’ll see intricate carvings on Bali’s historic palaces and temples, and this tour will give you some idea of the labor and talent that goes into creating them.

On the tour, your instructor will introduce you to the essential tools, and show you how to safely employ them. The piece you’ll be working on will be relatively small, compared to the life-size carvings that typically are the result of multiple artists working together. You’ll get to learn the most basic carving techniques, and feel the softness of the lumber that makes wood carving so popular here.
