IncludedThis is a 3-day course that introduces you to open water diving and requires no prior experience. While you’re here, you’ll see an abundance or marine life – besides the many pelagic fish that live here, you can see sea turtles a manta rays. There are also seasons for humpback whales (end of July to the beginning of September) and whale sharks (February and March).
Please note: This course is meant for divers ages 10 and up. Divers from the age of 10 to 14 will receive a Junior Open Water Diver Certification. You can only complete the online certificate if you are 13 or older. Divers also need to be in good health and have excellent swimming skills.
Right after you register, you’ll receive an electronic copy of the Open Water Diver manual. It’s a good idea to complete the reading and knowledge reviews before you arrive, but it’s best to wait until after you watch the dive center’s instructional videos to do the quizzes. You’ll also take a final test to show your mastery of the written material.
On the first day, you’ll get oriented with the equipment and the theory involved in advanced open water diving. Arrive at the dive center at 8:30 AM so you have plenty of time to watch the videos and complete the quizzes.
The next two days are totally devoted to confined and open water diving, with breaks for lunch that are included in your tour. You’ll learn how to put on gear and share air on two easy, confined dives. After you’re comfortable with the fundamentals, you’ll take four open water dives outside of Santa Catalina.
