We have always lived by the beach, so we were more interested in the city, history, culture, food, and non-beach related outdoor activities for this trip. Anywhere was able to create the perfect 12-day trip that would take us from Panama City to Boquete for some forest adventure! Even when we had to change things around last minute, Lizza was there for us every step of the way!
Memorable days in Boquete…
We rented a car through Anywhere and drove between destinations. We loved Boquete and stayed there for 6-nights! We stayed at Cabanas Isla Verde, which is a cute resort with lots of charm. The gardens were beautiful and the staff friendly and welcoming.
Our favorite activities from the trip…
Boquete in the highlands of Panama's Chiriqui province, and we were able to do a lot of fun excursions from there. For example, we had fun at the Tree Trek Canopy tour, where the guide made us feel safe and excited at the same time. Whitewater rafting was so fun. Having a good guide really made all the difference. Our 10 year old and 12 year old loved it all!

The small town of Boquete sits in the highlands of Panama’s Chiriquí province, snugly fitted into a lush valley and surrounded by towering mountains, gushing streams, and abundant coffee farms. Though once a sleepy mountain town forgotten by time, Boquete is beginning to see more and more tourists these days, and for good reason – its natural beauty is astounding and its range of activities spectacular. Panama’s only volcano, Volcán Barú, lies only 9 km away, providing visitors with excellent hiking, nature viewing, and camping. Boquete’s other attractions include white-water rafting, canopy tours, hot springs, botanical gardens, and more.

Lying along the banks of the Panama Canal halfway across the isthmus, Gamboa is about a 45-minute drive from Panama City. With an abundance of natural beauty and an incredibly close distance to Panama City, this area is simply a must for anyone passing through the capital.

Panama Canal
The Panama Canal is one of the world’s most impressive engineering feats. The canal extends 80 kilometers (50 mi) from Panama City on the Pacific Ocean to Colón on the Caribbean Sea. It’s built at one of the lowest and narrowest points in Panama, and runs right through the Continental Divide. More than 14,000 ships pass through the canal annually, carrying some 300 million tons of cargo. As such, the Panama Canal is one of the largest generators of income for Panama—in 2011, the canal generated $800 million, some two percent of the country’s GDP.
