My Solo Adventure
I was planning an 8-10 day solo trip to Cuba, and thought it would be nice to have some activities and arrangements, without having to figure everything out myself, especially with the lack of internet access in Cuba. I ended up being very impressed with what Anywhere came up with.
Traveling to Cuba on my own…
I booked this solo adventure in Cuba for 11-days/10-nights. Anywhere helped me arrange all of the lodgings and tours, from my stay in Old Havana, to Trinidad, to Varadero.
Educational tours and dancing lessons…
The first place I stayed at was Hostal Habana. Great room, excellent location, friendly staff. I was very impressed. In Old Havana, the Fortifications of Colonial Havana Tour was educational and really told the stories of what Cuba had been through. I took some dancing lessons on the two nights I was there, and the local music scene was very fun.
The best part of the trip…
In Trinidad, I took a tour to Manaca Iznaga Valley. The ruins of the historical sugar mills were pretty impressive. My guide was excellent and although we ended up touring by car, it was ultimately the best decision, as we covered many grounds on the trip.
Places you'll stay
Old Havana (Havana Vieja)
Spanish conquistadors started building Havana in 1519. The city became an important port in the second half of the 16th century. Over the years the old section of Havana has become an important showcase of Moorish, baroque, neoclassical, and art nouveau architecture. Each plaza and neighborhood of Old Havana has a distinct look and personality.
Trinidad
Trinidad is a charming, colonial city in central Cuba. Its cobblestone streets, historic houses, and lively atmosphere help make it a top destination in Cuba.
Varadero
Varadero is Cuba’s most popular beach destination. Less than a 2-hour drive from Havana, Veradero extends onto a long, narrow peninsula and boasts blazing white-sand beaches and warm turquoise water.
Vedado Neighborhood
Vedado is a pocket of moderate prosperity in modern Havana, and you can find lots of shops in this area. 20th-century mansions in Vedado have neoclassical, art deco, and beaux-arts architecture. Walk down Calle 17 to see some of the area’s most impressive buildings.
Havana
Havana is a beautiful and captivating city. It’s home to the country’s most thriving cultural, culinary, and artistic scenes, and is a fascinating intersection between Spanish colonialism and Cuban Communism. The people here are friendly and welcoming, and it’s easy to spend an entire week strolling its streets, visiting museums, and listening to live music.
