The outlets in Peru are 220 volts and 60 cycles; U.S. appliances use 110 volts. Do not attempt to plug a 110-volt appliace from the United States into a 220-volt Peruvian outlet. Doing so risks fire.
You can use converters to plug your 110-volt appliances into Peruvian outlets. Converters can be purchased at electronics shops in both the U.S. and Peru. It's also smart to bring a surge protector, as voltage surges are fairly common in Peru.
