IncludedTake a challenging, three-day, two-night trek through one of Peru’s most profound natural wonders – the Colca Canyon. It’s twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, and features stops at remote communities and hot springs along the way. Be ready for a true physical challenge and steep inclines. In some parts, you’ll ascend 3,937 feet (1,200 m) in 3 hours, so come prepared to test your endurance, and be rewarded with the most beautiful sights in Peru, with visits to lookouts where you can watch Andean condors soar.
Note: You’ll spend both nights in rustic cabins with private bathrooms, and have all your meals provided.
##Itinerary
Day 1: Arequipa - Chivay - Cabanaconde - San Juan de Chuchho
3:00 AM to 03:30 AM Your day starts before the crack of dawn, with a pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa. This starry drive to Chivay to takes 3 hours, and on the way you’ll pass the scenic slopes of the Chachani Volcano.
6:00 AM - Arrive in Chivay and have breakfast at a local restaurant.
6:30 AM - Hit the road again, this time for a 90-minute trip to the Mirador de la Cruz, a popular lookout for spotting Andean condors.
8:00 AM - When you arrive at the Colca Canyon, you’ll pause to admire the breathtaking view and do some more bird watching.
9:00 AM - Take a 20-minute drive to the town of Cabanaconde. This is where you’ll start hiking. After a 4-hour descent over 4,452 feet (1,357 m), you’ll reach the community of San Juan Chuccho. You’ll get a chance to explore and cross a suspension bridge that stretches across the Colca River.
1:00 PM - Stop for lunch at a family lodge. This is simple, homey food that will fill you up and prepare you for the rest of your hike. After you arrive at your cabin, you’ll stop by a lodge for dinner.

Day 2: San Juan de Chuccho - Cosñirhua - Malata - Sangalle
7:00 AM - Breakfast at your cabin.
7:30 AM - Hike for 5 hours and visit the villages of Tapay, Cosñirhua, and Malata. These are tiny, isolated communities with their own distinct cultures. At the end of your hike, you’ll arrive at the swimming pool at Sangalle Oasis.
1:00 PM - After you arrive in the town of Sangalle, you’ll have lunch in a rustic cabin. Then, you’ll spend the rest of the afternoon exploring
6:00 PM - Dinner at your lodgings.
Hiking time: 5 hours
Day 3: Sangalle - Cabanaconde - Chivay - Arequipa
5:00 AM - Another early morning hike – it takes 3 hours to reach the town of Cabanaconde, where you’ll stop for breakfast.
8:00 AM - Breakfast.
9:00 AM - Transportation will pick you up for a 2-hour road trip.
11:00 AM - Arrive in Chivay, then heading to the "Chacapi" hot springs, which have a temperature of 38°C.
1:00 PM - Lunch in a local restaurant.
2:00 PM - Return to Arequipa. On the way back, you might stop at a lookout called the Mirador de los Andes, or Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. These stops give you the chance to see vicuñas – camelids that resemble alpacas.
5:30 PM - Arrive at Arequipa.
Hiking time: 3 hours Transportation 5.5 hours

• Bottle of water 3 Lt. as minimum
• Original passport put in a waterproof plastic bag, can be rainy
• Mosquito repellent, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Lantern
• Pills for altitude sickness
• warm clothing (hat, scarf, wind breaker, poncho, gloves)
• Hiking shoes.
• (If stockings getting wet is always good to have warm and dry feet).
• In the rainy season it is important to keep your personal belongings in plastic bags
• Toilet paper
• swimwear, towel and sandals for the hot springs.
• Snacks.
• Camera Photo and extra batteries
• Hiking poles (optional)
