The small town of Chivay sits at the spot where the road to Arequipa meets the Colca Valley. The Colca Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world—at 11,150 feet (3,400 meters) it’s more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. There are many wonderful places to hike and mountain bike here, and the area is well known for its beautiful festivals. Chivay is a good place to launch adventures into the Colca Canyon, and the town also has a few attractions of its own, including thermal baths and a planetarium.
Aranwa Pueblito Encantado del Colca is beautifully laid out along the Colca River. Chivay is about a 10-minute drive away. The hotel provides guests with a wonderful place to relax while exploring the Colca Canyon. Enjoy views of the Andes Mountains while crossing the hotel’s lush gardens; at night, look up and you’ll see a dazzling array of stars scattered across the sky. The setting is very quiet and peaceful.
The rooms and chalets are attractive and laid out in terrace fashion. They are cheerfully painted in blue, pink, and orange colors. The bathrooms have huge bathtubs, a hot water shower, hair dryer, and two sinks. All accommodations are spacious and equipped with a telephone, mini-bar, and electronic safe. Additionally, the chalets have a kitchenette and a living room where guests can sit and enjoy wonderful views of the Colca Valley
The onsite El Molino Restaurant has a menu inspired by both regional and international cuisine. There are several trout dishes, with the fish sourced locally from the hotel’s own trout farm. Beer, wine, and tasty cocktails (like Maracuya Sours) can be enjoyed at the Cabana Bar.
There are a number of ways for guests to relax. When the weather is right, you can swim in the heated pool or lie out on lounge chairs and soak up sun. Another option is to unwind with a massage at the Unno Spa or else spend time in the steam room or beneath the Vichy shower.
There is an onsite chapel for guests who want to tie the knot, and a conference room for travelers interested in hosting meetings or parties. Guests can access the Internet via Wi-Fi or use computers in the hotel’s business center.
