Paracas is a small and somewhat fancy beach town along Peru’s southern coast. Paracas is set some 11 miles (17.7 km) south of Pisco and is a fairly quiet place. At night there isn’t much to do but look out over the ocean and sip cocktails from a handful of beach restaurants. The Paracas Bay is tranquil and ideal for sailboating and windsurfing. The Ballestas Islands are a gorgeous group of islands set off the shore—visiting the natural reserve that protects these islands gives travelers a good chance of spotting seals, sea lions, and even penguins.
Hotel Paracas is located right along Paracas Bay. The setting here is beautiful and the hotel is designed to immerse travelers in Peru’s coastal culture.
The hotel’s accommodations are large, clean and lovely. They feature unique décor inspired by the sea and local Peruvian artwork. The spacious, air-conditioned rooms have cozy beds and a private bathroom that’s equipped with a hot water shower, full bathtub, and deluxe toiletries. All rooms have a cable TV, iPod alarm clock, in-room safe, iron/ironing board, and wireless Internet access. Guests can enjoy a drink from the mini-bar while relaxing on their private outdoor terrace—the views from here are killer. In addition to the standard amenities, there are several types of suites that are larger and more luxurious.
Creativity is a touchstone of the cuisine at Hotel Paracas. The hotel’s chefs combine Peruvian and Mediterranean flavors to create dishes that look as good as they taste. Enjoy local seafood at the Ballestas Restaurant or pizzas and pastas at Trattoria. For lighter, but no less delicious, fare, try out a number of tasty snacks from the poolside Bar Lounge or Zarcillo Bar. Both bars are stocked with a number of refreshing and fun drinks.
There are two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is specifically designed for families. The main (i.e. adult) pool is big, blue, and beautiful—it’s surrounded by cushioned deck chairs and poolside cabins (which can be rented). Families are typically drawn towards the Activities Pool, which features ocean views and an assortment of floaties, balls and other water toys that will keep the kids entertained. Food and drinks are available from the restaurant.
If you’re feeling a bit sluggish after travel, visit the hotel’s fitness center. The fitness center is stocked with state-of-the-art equipment, including treadmills, free weights, stationary bikes, and more. The hotel’s spa is right next-door—this is an ideal place to relax after a strenuous workout. At the spa you can select from various massages, exfoliations, facials, and body treatments, all of which use decadent products to maximize each experience.
International newspaper delivery service, luggage transport, currency exchange, and laundry/dry cleaning service are some of the many conveniences that are offered at this hotel.
