Posada del Inca Lake Titicaca

Puno is a mid-size town set along the shores of Lake Titicaca. The town itself is somewhat sprawling, but it does have a pleasant central area with a cathedral, old buildings, and museums. And the setting – with the large and lovely Lake Titicaca spread out in front of town – is stunning. Activities in Puno include kayaking on Lake Titicaca and riding horses on nearby trails. The area also has some of Peru’s best folk festivals—it’s worth checking into festival dates and arranging your travel to see one.

Posada del Inca Lake Titicaca is located 3 miles (5 km) outside Puno. The hotel extends down to the lake and has lovely views, especially from the private dock. While here, be on the lookout for guinea pigs (known locally as cuy) and alpacas roaming the hotel’s property.

The hotel’s 70 rooms are spacious and comfy. All have solid Wi-Fi access, a cable TV, direct-dial telephone, and safe deposit box. Soundproof windows ensure that rooms remain quiet, and there is individual climate control that allows guests to keep the room at the temperature of their liking. All rooms have a private bathroom with a hot water shower and toiletries; hair dryers can be included upon request. There are sitting areas and small tables as well.

Meals can be enjoyed at the hotel’s Inkafé Restaurant. The restaurant enjoys dramatic views of Lake Titicaca and has a varied menu. The restaurant is open daily from 5:30 AM to 10:30 PM. Room service is available.

Posada del Inca Lake Titicaca has an event space that can hold up to 40 people—this is ideal for cocktail parties or smaller get-togethers. There is a business center with Internet access and laundry service for guests that need to have their clothes cleaned. Other services include luggage storage, medical assistance, private parking, currency exchange, and a gift shop. There is also a train stop right outside the hotel and a private pier that extends into Lake Titicaca. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating.
