Is Peru bike friendly?

Some parts of Peru are bike friendly. In general, rural areas are good places to ride bikes, especially in the Sacred Valley, Arequipa, and outside Cusco. Travelers can often rent mountain bikes in these areas and ride single-track routes through the mountains.

Riding bikes in Peru's cities is less common. Bikers will have to compete with cars and may be put in dangerous situations. For this reason, it's not advised to ride bikes in larger cities.
