You can quickly walk to Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, which has a statue of the last Inca king at its center. Several religious monuments face the Plaza, like Cusco Cathedral and the church known as La Compañía de Jesus (“The Society of Jesus”). Some of the city’s most interesting museums are just a couple of blocks from this area. The Museum of Pre-Columbian Art has a collection of ceramics housed in a colonial mansion. Walk from here down the street to the Coca Museum, and learn about how Peruvians developed a healing tradition around the medicinal coca leaf. In this part of Cusco you can find plenty of pleasant cafes and upscale restaurants.
On the hotel’s rooftop terrace you can get some fresh air while you’re surrounded by a garden of potted plants. Maytaq Wasin has a restaurant called Mutu that serves refined interpretations of classic Peruvian dishes. Mutu hosts live music events and has a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere. There is a breakfast buffet every morning that serves fruit, juice, and cereals. You can also visit the hotel’s bakery for fresh bread.
In a room at Maytaq Wasin you’ll be ensconced in a cocoon of warm colors and textures. Accommodations come with cable TV, and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Each room has a spacious bathroom with a hair dryer. Keep your belongings safely stored in the room’s safety deposit box.
This non-smoking hotel has plenty of services for busy travelers. Filtered water and hot beverages are available 24/7, and there is 24/7 front desk service. You can request a printer. Make use of the hotel’s laundry services, as well as the free luggage storage.
This was our return stay at Maytaq Wasin after going out to Machu Picchu. Our room this time was large with a great shower and plenty of room. Unfortunately, we were only in the room briefly because our return from Aqua Calientes got us in at 8:00 in the evening and we had a early call to the airport to return to Lima the next day. We would have loved to have this room for the first part of our visit to Cusco when we were there longer and used the room. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend the hotel to others.
