Tierra Viva Saphi is located on the corner of the Plaza de Armas, Cusco’s main square. This is a great spot to find places to eat and drink within walking distance. On the other side of the Plaza de Armas, take a stroll through the lovely Plaza Regocijo to the Museo Histórico Regional. This museum offers lots of information about pre-Inca civilizations, including artifacts from the Chavín, Moche, and Chimú civilizations. From the museum, you’ll also be a short walk from the Iglesia de Santa Teresa, a 17th-century church with an unusual brick façade. Staying at Tierra Viva Saphi, you’ll be only a 12-minute walk from Sacsayhuamán, the site of a large Inca fort and one of the most popular destinations in Cusco. Overtaken by Spanish troupes in the 16th century, this archeological site has an intense history. Visitors are welcome to explore what remains during a long walk around the ruins.
You’ll see traces of Tierra Viva Saphi’s past in its outdoor spaces. Tierra Viva Saphi has two outdoor patios, a typical architectural feature of colonial-era homes. Rooms come with large windows that face the patios, both of which are decorated with brightly-colored flowers. One features an old stone water fountain, another original feature of the building. Guests can gather on the patios to sit in the shade while they plan their itineraries.
Rooms at Tierra Viva are simply decorated and clean. They retain some antique charm with their exposed stonework. Guests love settling into the beds, all of which are outfitted with soft blankets and orthopedic mattresses. Accommodations are kept comfortable during the cooler months with heating.
Every room has a private bathroom with a hair dryer. For safekeeping, you can store all your valuables in the room’s safety deposit box. Make yourself at home at your room’s desk, a great place to collect your thoughts at the end of the day.
Spend some time getting caught up with the Internet using the hotel’s Wi-Fi, accessible from your room. You can also entertain yourself with the cable TV. Keep in touch with friends at home using the telephone to make a direct international call.
You don’t have to make any breakfast plans during your stay at Tierra Viva. Tierra Viva’s satisfying breakfast buffet is included in your stay. The hotel serves standard breakfast items as well as traditional Andean foods, to give you a head start on the local cuisine.
