IncludedChoquequirao, the sacred sister city of Machu Picchu, is a magic Inca city located South West from Cusco, between Cusco Department and Apurimac Department in Peru, if you are searching other option instead of the Inca Trail to Machupicchu, this is a place to go. You have 5 exciting trekking days, combining the different altitudes of the Peruvian Highlands with variety of Flora and Fauna.
ITINERARY: Briefing the night before the departure.
DAY 1: CUSCO- LIMATAMBO- CACHORA
We begin early in the Morning and take our private bus in the direction Cusco-Abancay. After Kunyak Bridge on the Apurimac River, we will arrive to Cachora town (3,100 masl-10,200 ft), there we will prepare all our staff to begin the trekking, muleteers with horses are waiting for us. Camping at Waqchapampas.
DAY 02: WAQCHA PAMPAS - WAYNA QALLI - ROSALINA BEACH
After breakfast we will begin to descend to the to the Apurimac canyon. On the way we will appreciate some parts of the Choquequirao archaeological site, the Vilcabamba snowy Andean chain. Nature begins to change because of the altitude and the weather. In the afternoon, we will arrive to Rosalina beach on the Apurimac river (1,900 masl or 6,720 ft), camp site.
DAY 3: ROSALINA BEACH - CHOQUEQUIRAO
This is the hardest day, we have to walk to the mountain early in the morning, because when the sun shines it gets really warm, this morning we walk in the side of the Cusco Department. There we can see different kinds of orchids, Andean bear, and a lot of birds, some times we can also see Condors. In the afternoon we will arrive to Choquequirao, campsite close to the archaeological site.
DAY 4: CHOQUEQUIRAO- ROSALINA BEACH
In the morning we have a guided tour of the sister city of Chokequirau, after it, we will begin to go back to Rosalina Beach, arriving in the afternoon. Campsite.
DAY 5: ROSALINA BEACH – CACHORA - CUSCO
Early in the morning, we begin to walk again towards Cachora. Our bus is waiting there to take us back to Cusco.
What to Bring
Personal sleeping bag, back pack, hiking shoes, water bottle, flash light, hat, sun block, sunglasses, warm/ termic clothes, rain coat, chocolates, candies or other snacks, camera, binoculars.
