On this tour you’ll enjoy a comfortable train ride through the beautiful Andean landscape. The tour begins in Puno (Lake Titicaca) and ends in Cusco. The train, a deluxe Andean Explorer, is top-notch and the route is considered one of the best in all of South America. In total, the tour lasts 10 hours.
The train is decorated in the style of Pullman trains from the 1920s. It has an elegant dining car and a car-bar outdoor observatory. From here, you can admire views of the Andes and Huataney River. You’ll see alpaca and vicuña foraging in the high plains, and locals strolling through small villages. The train also makes a brief stop in La Raya—located at an elevation of 14,150 feet (4,313 m), La Raya hosts a colonial chapel set upon a high plateau. It’s a very picturesque and attractive area.
During the ride you’ll enjoy a gourmet lunch, afternoon tea, and musical entertainment; oftentimes there is also a fashion show of typical Peruvian clothing. Guests are offered unlimited coca tea, chamomile tea, and water.
Do note that this tour does not include transfers between the train station and your hotel. This transportation needs to be booked separately.
