Ka'ana Resort

From Ka’ana it only takes 5 minutes to drive to the Maya ruin of Cahal Pech. Cahal Pech covers 2 acres (0.8 ha), and has 7 temples, the tallest of which is 77 feet (24 m). Just a few minutes north of Cahal Pech you’ll reach the downtown of San Ignacio, where you can find a nice selection of restaurants. Travel 30 minutes southwest of the lodge to see Xunantunich, once of the most impressive ruins in Belize. Guided tours here introduce you to stunning hieroglyphs and interesting local legends. This hotel is also very close to the Guatemalan border, making this an excellent place to explore famous neighboring ruins like Tikal. If you’re looking to get a bit more off the beaten path, you can also make your way to remote ruins like Yaxhá.

There’s a pool on the grounds, as well as lots of open green spaces and a private garden. Eat breakfast at Ka’ana’s La Ceiba restaurant. You can eat the rest of your meals here, with hearty Caribbean entrees. Or you can order room service for a relaxing night in.

You can choose from villas, small houses called “casitas,” or decked-out suites. Private villas also come with their own small pools. Accommodations have views of either the tropical garden or the pool. No matter where you stay you’ll have a bright, fresh room with air conditioning and ceiling fans.

All of the rooms here have private bathrooms where you can find soft robes and hair dryers. Rooms stay nice and clean with twice daily maid service, and you can let the staff know if you’d like to use the ironing service.

Your room will come with a phone that has voicemail. There’s also free Wi-Fi and an iPod docking station. Use the in-room safety deposit box to store your valuables, and help yourself to the minibar.
