When you’re packing your clothes, keep in mind Belize’s intense, subtropical humidity. Bring light, breathable clothing. Assuming you have some outdoorsy adventures planned, bring hiking shoes, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and cotton socks.
You’ll also need a hat and sunglasses. Hikers should bring along large water bottles – you can’t drink tap water in Belize, so you should be prepared to bring enough water to last you the day. In case you want to take a nighttime tour, or explore the shadowy corners of a Maya ruin, consider bringing a flashlight.
Of course you’ll need a bathing suit, along with all your other beach accessories. Flip-flops and beach towels are necessities. You should also bring goggles so you can open your eyes underwater and see tropical fish.
Leave behind your heavy sweaters and coats. It doesn’t get very cold in Belize, even during the rainy season. In the summer, the temperature is usually around 86º F (30º C). During the winter months, the coldest temperature doesn’t go much below 60ºF (16ºC).
