Tour participants will be picked up from their hotel in Trujillo at 8:00 AM. The transportation to Chiclayo is in a private shuttle, and includes a guide. After departing Trujillo, you'll stop at the El Brujo Complex, which is about 21 miles (34 km) north of Trujillo. Your guide will lead you around this archeological site, which was built by the Moche culture sometime around AD 600.
The pyramid is an awesome sight, rising some 98 feet (29 m) from the surrounding desert. Portions of the pyramid are covered with images of warriors, plants, and animals. What this pyramid is best known for, however, is the female mummy that was discovered here in 2006. Known as the Lady of Cao, this female mummy is presumed to have been Moche royalty and is well-preserved and covered with tattoos. Tour participants can see her on display at the onsite museum, which also features other Moche artifacts that were unearthed during the excavations.
After visiting El Brujo you will be dropped off at your hotel in Chiclayo around 2:00 PM.
