Inca Explorer Vacation for Two
My bucket list destination was Machu Picchu, but I also wanted to experience the culture and hikes that Peru offers. Cesar from Anywhere helped us piece together the trip of our dreams!
My dream trip to Machu Picchu…
I’ve used Anywhere to plan my Costa Rica trip before, and this time I wanted to see what their Peru experience was like. We loved the individualized attention, and attention to detail when coordinating services and transportation. My bucket list destination was Machu Picchu, but I also wanted to experience the culture and hikes that the rest of Peru offers. We also wanted to spend a few days by the coast, and Cesar recommended Lima, which was amazing! We loved the individualized attention, and attention to detail when coordinating services and transportation.
Acclimating in Cusco…
We spent some time in Cusco to acclimate to the altitude. We loved the culture of this town and enjoyed exploring the shops, museums, and churches in the area. JW Marriott in Cusco is a comfortable stay. The food at the restaurant was amazing (try the crispy pork belly and octopus appetizer), we loved the additional oxygen in the rooms (we definitely needed it after completing some high-altitude trekking in the area), and the service was exceptional
The most memorable thing about this vacation...
Aguas Calientes is a nice small town and we enjoyed our time there. We loved exploring the market and the proximity to Machu Picchu was very convenient. At Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel we were upgraded to a honeymoon suite free of charge due to the fact that our original room was next to construction. All the food at the restaurant was delicious (we especially liked the stuffed peppers appetizer). The grounds of the hotel were beautifully kept.
Places you'll stay
Lima
The coastal city of Lima is diverse, with colorful parks, friendly locals, tasty cuisine, vibrant markets, and ancient historical attractions. Travelers can tour world-class museums, wander through the colonial architecture of Miraflores, and eat seafood along the Pacific coast.
Cusco
Nestling in the dip of the Watanay River Valley, from above the city of Cusco takes the shape of a puma, which some historians theorize was a purposeful design. As the city expands, its borders creep up the sides of the surrounding mountains, but puma statues, fountains, and signs keep the big cat’s status of unofficial city mascot.
Aguas Calientes
Aguas Calientes is the closest town to Machu Picchu. Staying here for a night or two will give you intimate access to this incredible Inca site.
