What Should I Bring To Uganda?
Packing for Uganda requires balancing safari practicality, variable weather conditions, and domestic flight weight restrictions. Neutral-colored, layered clothing and sturdy footwear are essential.

For clothing, bring lightweight, neutral-colored items (khaki, olive, brown, gray). Avoid bright colors and white on safari as they can disturb wildlife. Pack layers—mornings and evenings can be cool, especially in highland areas like Bwindi, where temperatures may drop to 10°C (50°F).
Essential items include: sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots (waterproof for gorilla trekking), long pants and long-sleeved shirts for both sun and insect protection, a warm fleece or jacket for cold mornings and high altitudes, a waterproof rain jacket, and a hat.
For gorilla trekking specifically, bring gardening gloves for grasping vegetation, gaiters to protect against stinging nettles and mud, and ensure footwear has good grip for steep, muddy terrain.
Binoculars are essential for wildlife viewing. A quality camera with a good zoom lens captures memories. Bring sufficient batteries and memory cards, as charging opportunities may be limited. A headlamp or flashlight is useful in camps with limited lighting.
